October turned into Wingtober for me. White angel wings, black feathered wings, owl wings, even dragon wings. I like to take my wing images at the top of a hill to get as much sky behind the model as possible (anyone in front of my camera is labeled a model, BTW). My favorite hill is at a local park and I love doing these shoots at sunrise. Not only because the sun and sky do magical things but also to hit a time where there are less people around. This last wing shoot might be my last of the season unless someone want to brave the cold for a winter shoot. Sunrise is getting chilly around here. This is the process that lead up to a finished piece of art.
My lovely friend Rebecca decided the frosty dawn was worth it to get a custom canvas of herself as an angel for above her bed. The shoot went beautifully!
She was able to view the soft edits to see which ones she liked best. I had already started to work on one because sometimes I just get too excited to wait. The image I chose to work with first was this one. This is straight out of the camera with no edits.
It was put through the first round of edits to change the dimensions to better fit above her bed and some stylizing to the light and color quality.
Sometimes the sky cooperates and provides plenty of color and texture and sometimes I have to help it along a little. A soft, colorful sky was added along with the wings. Some edits were made to the sun-flares and reflected light as well as other finishing touches.
Rebecca took me into her bedroom to take a look at the new paint color and furnishings so I could better match the tones of her space. While the gold is lovely, it just doesn't go with the blush and gray color scheme she has. This is a much better fit! I'm so excited to see it printed on canvas and on her wall!

I would love to create a custom piece for you too! Tell me your vision.
Thank you for joining me on this journey through the creation of an art piece.
